How Far Can You Take Farming in the City?

Another interesting piece over at Garden Rant.  If you've got an empty lot - can you farm in the city?  Can you have animals and everything?  Will your city neighbors and the bureaucracy get it?  Check it out here!

  1. thanks for linking to this article. I have actually considered putting up a farm stand on our lot (we're on a fairly busy corner out in the country) but am very leery of all the rules that might ensue. While I can understand people want their food to be safe it's also become regulation hell, supporting only large companies and basically driving away family farms.

  2. Hi, Marguerite; Just selling fresh veggies is quite easy and not a whole lot of regulations. Quite often you don't even need a vendors license for selling at the 'farm gate'. Baked goods, cheese, eggs - way more rules and regulations!
